State of Confusion
The name might make you wonder what type of restaurant this would be. Well, I can tell you that this place was one of my favorite restaurants I discovered when I moved to town. It’s so special that I hosted a meetup there and I hosted my own 50th birthday dinner here, so that should tell you something! Their menu is highly Cajun-influenced, but in a novel way. They do have traditional Cajun cuisine like jambalaya and gumbo, but they have much more. Highlights include the Aji chicken eggrolls, fried beef tacos, alligator bites, gator gumbo bowl, plancha chicken, and even a stuffed sweet potato (for the veggie-inclined). My favorite side is the Confusion potatoes, which are a medley of white potatoes and sweet potatoes and onions. They have regular French fries too… which are some of my favorite in town. And they offer house-made potato chips too. (Apparently the chef has a thing for potatoes!) The vibe of this place is awesome too. They have a beautiful bar area and an upper level – balcony area overlooking DeWitt Ln, which is strip in the LoSo area with a strong presence of restaurants and breweries. Strong flavor and a great vibe. This will be a Charlotte landmark in no time!
