Pinky’s

$2.00

This place is fairly well known to Charlotte locals. It’s a pretty popular place and I was dying to try it. The building strikes your eye, as it is housed inside a former car repair shop. To make its history even more obvious to passers-by, there’s a Volkswagen Beetle placed on its roof! By the way, they set you straight right on their website: “We are a very high volume restaurant, so we have to keep a few rules to ensure service for all of our customers is fast & delicious!” Well, any rules would be acceptable when they give you such a stupendous selection of tasty greasy food to choose from. They’ve got pimento cheese wontons, taquitos, and fried pickles for starters, but they also have “white bean and rosemary hummus”. They have baskets of fried items and big burgers and wieners and tacos, but they also serve salads. I love how they have a little fun sometimes with the names of items: “Pimp’n Fries”, “Skrimpz”, the “Pterodactyl” and “White Trash” burgers, and “Ding Dong Chicken” sandwiches. If you aren’t bothered by the very tight spacing inside, you’ll be sure to enjoy the very “comfort”-based food here. Since you’re so physically close to your fellow diners, why not just grab one of the corndog shrimps from their table… You know you want to!
