Noble Smoke

$2.00

This classy bbq place (An oxymoron maybe?) is a shiny version of your typical bbq restaurant. But the food is as good as any other hole-in-the-wall bbq joint. According to the website, “The opening of Noble Smoke… is a heartfelt demonstration of [Chef Jim] Noble’s longtime love for smoked meats.” And for just shy of $600, he offers to teach you his techniques in a Saturday morning class! But don’t worry, the prices at this restaurant don’t match the high cost of his teachings. This glorious restaurant on the edge of the Wesley Heights neighborhood serves up all the meats you might expect from a bbq restaurant including brisket, pulled chicken, and pulled pork. But they also flex with servings of smoked turkey, smoked chicken wings, pastrami, and sausage. Delicious sides abound here too, with butter beans, collards, mac & cheese, pan-fried corn, two kinds of slaw, succotash, and squash — The options seems endless. But trust me — if you get overwhelmed, you can never go wrong with the French fries, which are the same magnificent ones that are served at their affiliated fast casual restaurant next door, Bossy Beulah’s. You can’t ever say about this restaurant that they don’t give you choices! And be sure to choose a dessert too! (There is also a bonus little storefront of this restaurant within the food hall, Optimist Hall.)
