Milkbread
This little restaurant captured my heart quickly after I first moved to Charlotte due to its proximity to my residence at the time in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood, and even more so because of the outstanding (fried) chicken sandwiches and biscuits they serve. As with fried chicken of any type, it’s all about the batter and seasoning which they have created the perfect recipe for. The Plaza Midwood location is outside seating only, but if you want the same amazing food while being protected from the elements, you can journey over to the Uptown location (although with limited hours), or up Interstate 77 to their original suburban location in Davidson, NC. If you’re not so much into fried items, they also have many other healthier options like grilled chicken and an array of healthy salads and bowls. I always go the less healthy, fried option… and plus I get it “hot-dipped”, which means it’s coated in the best spicy sauce you can imagine. The other main character of their menu, which gives the restaurant its name, is the delectable milkbread cinnamon rolls and donuts of several flavors. This place also doubles as a coffee shop, as they feature a selection of coffees, lattes, and teas. Anyone who tries this little place will return because there’s nothing better than hanging outside here and enjoying Milkbread on a bright clear day in this awesome neighborhood.
